10 Actors Perfectly Cast for Their Character Roles

Which actor was perfectly cast for a character role? The character that you can’t imagine any other human on earth in that character. Someone who captures a role’s imagery, essence, timing, and presence so much it would be virtually impossible to replace. After polling the internet, here are the top-voted responses.

10. Hugh Jackman as Wolverine

“Hugh Jackman is Wolverine,” suggested one. “I grew up collecting X-Men comics, quit when I turned twelve. He isn’t the Wolverine that existed in my brain, and I’m so glad for that,” confessed another.

“I just finally watched Logan, and holy cow, do I regret waiting so long. That was the best protagonist performance in a comic book movie, and it wouldn’t exist if I got my Wolverine.”

9. Imelda Staunton as Dolores Umbridge

One person volunteered, “Imelda Staunton as Dolores Umbridge in Harry Potter.” Another shared, “I hate her in that role so much. Then I remind myself that she is doing such a fantastic job, and her job is to make me hate her.”

8. Val Kilmer as Doc Holiday

“Val Kilmer as Doc Holiday from Tombstone,” one voted. “He did it perfectly, and my favorite quote of all time is, ‘There is no normal life, Wyatt. There’s just life. Now get on with it.’ On the same note, no one could have played Wyatt Earp any better than Kurt Russell. Tombstone was cast very well.”

7. Charles Dance as Tywin Lannister

“Charles Dance as Tywin Lannister on Game of Thrones. I’ve never seen someone so physically unimposing command so much respect. He also played Emhyr in The Witcher 3, the same type of Machiavellian tyrant obsessed with his self-made dynasty,” someone replied.

6. Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly

“Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly. The whole movie hinges on him, and he makes it work. He has to be terrified about what’s going on. But in a way that’s funny to the audience. He has to be effortlessly cool but also dorky. You have to believe his sincerity. And then there’s a ton of physical comedy as well.”

“It’s all such a balancing act, and he makes it look so easy you don’t even think about it when you’re watching the movie. There aren’t a lot of young actors with the range and nuance to successfully pull that off.” Another added, “Also: Christopher Lloyd as Doc Brown.”

5. Alan Rickman as Snape

“Alan Rickman as Snape,” stated one. A second argued, “I’ll counter and say that Alan Rickman made two other roles entirely his as well, namely Hans Gruber in Die Hard and the Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. In the latter, he chews so much scenery that it contrasts brilliantly with Kevin Costner’s non-acting.”

4. The Entire Cast of Lord of the Rings

“Ian McKellan as Gandalf, Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn, and Christopher Lee as Saruman. That entire movie had some of the best castings, but those three are perfect,” professed one. Another added, “I honestly can’t imagine anyone else besides Sean Astin as Samwise.”

3. Christoph Waltz in Inglourious Basterds

“Yes! I read somewhere that Quentin Tarantino was considering abandoning Inglorious Basterds because he thought he had written a character that no one would ever be able to portray on screen. Then Christoph Waltz auditioned for Hans Landa.”

2. Marisa Tomei in My Cousin Vinny

“Marisa Tomei in My Cousin Vinny,” shared one. “She nails every aspect of the character and sells the movie.” Another added, “She’s the most memorable part of the whole movie. Marisa is pretty freaking brilliant in everything she’s in and one of the best actresses in Hollywood.”

1. J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson

“J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson. It’s eerie how much he looked like Jameson from the comics,” one stated. Another added, “He’s so perfect for it that he kept the role even after they transitioned into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
